How Restaurant Construction is Changing with the Times

Few of us expected COVID-19 to affect our daily lives for as long and as drastically as it has. Even for us, working in a field like construction, the pandemic has forced us to make changes to the way we work and even the way we build. With some of M&M’s best loved and most impressive work being done on restaurants, a type of business arguably MOST affected by Coronavirus, it was crucial for us the study and adhere to the state’s operating guidelines. While The Connecticut Restaurant Association mainly stresses restaurant employee facial coverings, as well as other staff precautions, our new construction on Bedford Street in Downtown Stamford will be taking additional measures to keep pandemic dining safe.

The Towne Parlor will attract a variety of diners. Whether it be for a family pizza night beyond the classic cardboard box and plastic table, or for a date with a self-proclaimed pizza aficionado, this establishment will deliver a comfortable and delectable dining experience. Patrons will revel in relaxation thanks to the restaurant’s cozy yet modern dining room, as well as the taste of fresh pies cooked in a wood burning pizza oven.

M&M and Towne Parlor, however, did not ignore the reality of pandemic life in this project. Relaxation outside of quarantine has proved hard to come by for many. Because it is obviously not feasible to eat while using a protective face covering, many people have avoided restaurants as a whole. We hope that the solution put in place in this project, though, may be exactly the measure that saves dining-out activities for this demographic. Going above and beyond what the CDC and CT Restaurant Association have suggested, we installed plexiglass barriers between seating to offer an added level of pathogen protection.

Our hope is that this Downtown Stamford eatery will be the answer to the pandemic-dining prayers of many, and will be an upscale dining experience without the fussiness OR danger that other establishments allow for. Like with all of our projects, our team devoted an unrivaled degree of intention and care to Towne Parlor, and we assure that your business can expect the same caliber of service.
